The Many Benefits of Milk Thistle
Milk thistle, which also goes by the name of Silybum marianum and holy thistle, has been used to treat liver ailments for hundreds of years. Milk thistle works by improving the liver’s ability to remove toxins from the body, and in turn repairs damage to the liver. This is great news for those that suffer from liver ailments such as hepatitis and cirrhosis.
Recent research has also suggested that milk thistle also aids in lowering cholesterol, it does this by increasing the body’s production of the natural antioxidant, glutathione.
The main medicinal benefits are derived from a flavonoid complex housed in the milk thistle herb, which comes in the shape of silymarin. This particular substance is sourced from the milk thistle seeds. The silymarin complex contains a total of four health beneficial phytochemicals; these include silybinin, isosilybinin, silydianin, and silychristin.

Positive Thinking
Keeping our lives happy and harmonious can very often be difficult and studie

It can be enormously beneficial, psychologically and physically, to make an effort to integrate positive thinking into every aspect of your life. You will reap the health rewards if you fallow a few basic guidelines:

- Keep crises in perspective and if possible try to see them simply as problems that you can solve.
- Focus on the good things in your life.
- When faced with a situation that you find stressful, try calming strategies such as raking deep breaths or visualizing tranquil scenes or images.
Start Them While You’re Young
Healthy habits are best started in childhood because most bad habits are picked up then, too. If you have children, then one of the most effective ways to influence them is to lead by example – it won’t do any harm to have a few hours in front of the television if it is balanced by something more active earlier or later in the day. But bad habits can soon become part of your child’s normal life and changing these habits will become much more
difficult later on.
Education on health-damaging habits, such as smoking, can also begin at a very early age and probably has the best effect when your children can see plainly that you yourself, for example, don’t smoke. Read the rest of this entry »
